Pay It Forward Day
In 2009, The Fort St John Association for Community Living decided instead of just paying it back to the great City of Fort St John for all that they have contributed to our organization, they would start an annual Pay It Forward Day - a day in which all of Fort St John could participate in.
Pay It Forward is a concept that started many years ago, but really took effect when Catherine Ryan Hyde's book "Pay It Forward" became a movie. The concept is to do something good for three people and they then will do something good for three more people and so it multiplies. The Pay It Forward concept is now worldwide.
An Act of Kindness can be as simple as opening a door for someone, paying for someone's coffee, putting money in a parking meter or helping to raise money for a cause. The acts can be planned or totally random.
This Pay It Forward day is not just for our organization, but for all organizations and people of Fort St John to join in on, performing their own random acts, or meeting specific needs within the community.
This year marks our 10th Anniversary for Pay It Forward Day, and will take place on June 8, 2018. We encourage every business, organization, and person to participate in the day with their own random (or planned) acts of kindness.
