Membership

Become a member of the Fort St. John Association for Community Living!

We welcome members who wish to join us in accomplishing our mission of supporting individuals with developmental disabilities and complex needs live full and meaningful lives within our community. We have two tiers of membership: general membership and voting membership. General members are informed of upcoming events and annual general and special meetings, receive updates on what our organization is up to (via our Friends of the Association newsletter), can be invited to participate on committees or programs, and are encouraged to engage in discussions around Agency business and direction.

Voting membership comes with the same benefits of general membership, but also includes the right to make or second motions towards official FSJACL business, vote on official FSJACL business, and stand or be nominated for election as a member of our Board of Directors.

In other words, being a general member allows you to have input within our Agency, and being a voting member allows you to help make formal decisions regarding the direction of our Association and its activities within the community. With both roles, you can be involved as much or as little as you wish.

Anyone over the age of 19 who lives in the Peace River Regional District is welcome to be a general member. To be a voting member, some eligibility requirements must first be met, as per the current guidelines of BC's Society Act; these exist to prevent conflicts of interest.
